Mountain bike elite in Huttwil: Flückiger, Keller and Koller in the spotlight
The Bike Village Huttwil will open its doors on 5 and 6 September 2026 and will be part of the ŠKODA Swiss Bike Cup for the first time this year. The region can look forward to a weekend full of emotions, top sporting performances and unforgettable MTB moments. On Sunday, 6 September, the international cross‑country elite will meet in Huttwil. In the elite women’s category, the focus is on Nicole Koller and Alessandra Keller. In the elite men’s category, local hero Mathias Flückiger can look forward to particularly strong support along the course.

Mathias Flückiger (Thömus Maxon), the local hero and ambassador of the Bike Village Huttwil, knows every root on the course and is aiming for his second win of the season in the ŠKODA Swiss Bike Cup. At the start of the season, Flückiger shone on the technically demanding course of the Tamaro Trophy and won convincingly. Afterwards, a few unsuccessful races followed for the 37‑year‑old. Since a racing break in July and a strong performance at the Cross‑Country European Championships, Flückiger is back in better form and ready to attack in front of his home crowd. Flückiger will be challenged, among others, by Fabio Püntener and Filippo Colombo, two exceptional talents from the Scott‑Sram team who will shape the elite field. Both recently achieved a top‑10 finish at the Cross‑Country World Championships in Val di Sole. The field is complemented by numerous international top athletes who will ensure highly intense and exciting races.
Keller versus Koller
In the elite women’s category, Alessandra Keller, Flückiger’s teammate, and XCO Swiss champion Nicole Koller are in the spotlight. Both Swiss riders are in outstanding form. Koller won the bronze medal at the Cross‑Country World Championships last weekend. Keller, on the other hand, had to accept a setback, as her race was marked by technical issues. Already at the Swiss Championships in Leysin, the two delivered a gripping duel that impressively demonstrated the high performance density in Swiss women’s MTB. In Huttwil, a possible new edition of this duel may take place.“In Huttwil, I hope for many fans and bike‑enthusiastic people and therefore for a great atmosphere along the course,” says Alessandra Keller ahead of the Bike Village Huttwil.
XCC‑U23 and XCO‑U19 World Champions at the start
Not only in the elite categories will the world’s best athletes be at the start. Spectators can also look forward to top‑level sport in the U23 and U19 fields: the newly crowned world champions Anja Grossmann (U19 Cross‑Country) and Monique Halter (U23 Short Track) will both start in Huttwil. Halter will compete in the elite category. The future Thömus‑Maxon rider will move up to the highest category at the end of the season and will gain important experience at this level in Huttwil for the future.
Young talent in the spotlight
The focus of the ŠKODA Swiss Bike Cup is not solely on the elite. On Saturday, the youth and fun categories take centre stage. In the second‑to‑last round of the season, the young athletes will be competing for important points in the overall standings and for valuable experience on a course that demands everything from them.
The Bike Village Huttwil is more than race action: it becomes a meeting place for everyone who loves the sport, with many activities in the Bike EXPO and at the side events. On Saturday evening, the Trailrun Huttwil will take place, among other activities.
